Korean kids to watch Pooh for free

March 10, 2008

The Korean government has signed a deal with Disney that will put Winnie the Pooh and other Disney characters onto free terrestrial TV.

The Educational Broadcasting Sytstem (EBS) is a free TV channel that provides educational content for the entire family. The deal will mean that preschool animations such as My Friends Tigger and Pooh will be accessible to young Korean viewers, beginning this month. The series is the first CGI animated Pooh series and it's Disney's hope that it will bring a new generation to the wonderful stories of Pooh. Disney also claim that the TV series helps preschool children develop their reflecting thinking and reasoning skills.

The series has been a huge commercial success in other parts of the world, hitting the number one spot in Asia, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
