Royal Mail issues Winnie the Pooh Stamps

We all know that who the world's most loved and adored bear is and acknowledging this fact, the Royal Mail too has given its stamp of approval. Now the story of Pooh and his friends will be told through the medium of a new set of Royal Mail stamps.

The stamps have begun selling and were made available to the general public from October 13th 2010 onwards.

New Pooh stamps

Royal Mail spokesperson Melanie Corfield, said: "We know that Winnie the Pooh is a stamp issue that will rekindle many fond memories for people of all ages.

"We are delighted that we could use EH Shepard's original illustrations to bring Pooh and his friends to life on millions of stamps."

The stamps are images that have been handpicked from the original Pooh stories, Winnie-the-Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner and the book of verse, Now we are Six.

In most of the stamps it is Winnie the Pooh that features prominently but he is also joined by his Hundred Acre Wood friends Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Tigger and Owl.
