Rare Winnie the Pooh book discoveredFebruary 18, 2009
Winnie the Pooh has always been a source of great happiness to everyone around the world and at times he also brings riches to people. That's what happened with an unknown couple when they were able to sell 4 copies of Winnie the Pooh books each signed by the real Christopher Robin.
The couple took the 4 copies of Winnie the Pooh books to a valuation day and was shockingly surprised to hear that each one of those books could fetch up to £4,000 at auction. The husband happened to be a school friend of Christopher Robin and had treasured those books ever since he got Christopher Robin Milne to sign the books.
Even after hearing the price that the books could fetch them the couple decided that they would not sell for any money. They said the books Winnie The Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner, Now We Are Six and When We Were Very Young would be passed on by them to their next generations.
Book expert Lorraine Spindler from Boffin Books in Walton-on-the-Hill was there when the books were brought and said: "It is unusual to be shown one first edition Winnie The Pooh book in good condition but to be shown all four was very exciting - quite surreal. It was quite early in the day and I thought I was dreaming."
