Hundred Acre Wood is now Hectare Forest!

July 22, 2008

Since the early part of the thirteenth century, acre has been the standard method of land measurement in Britain, but that is set to change starting 2010 when hectare shall become the official land measurement procedure. This could lead to protest, mainly from Winnie-the-Pooh whose official address, The Hundred Acre Wood could effectively become 40.46 Hectare Forest.

All of Pooh's fans know that the stories and adventures of Winnie the Pooh and his friends take place in the Hundred Acre Wood therefore a change to 40.46 Hectare Forest shall nothing be something that will go down well. At the centre of this decision is Brussels who says that acre is an outdated form of measurement and from 2010 onwards acre should not be used.

For most this change shall not hamper their way of life one bit but for the millions of Pooh fans this will certainly bring about a sea change when they read stories of the Hundred Acre Wood' and have to call it the '40.46 Hectare Forest'.
