Pooh fans want his bridge be reopenedOctober 3, 2007
A footpath leading to the bridge where Winnie the Pooh played Pooh sticks is the centre of tussle between Pooh fans and a stud farm. The bridge has been closed at Chuck Hatch in Hartfield, where Faircote Stud Farm has established a training school. The Ramblers’ Association has now asked East Sussex County Council to direct the farm to clear up the place so that Pooh fans can visit the place where Pooh & Christopher Robin raced twigs down the river.
The path, called Hartfield Footpath 15, connects B2026 Hartfield to Uckfield Road along with the path that that leads to Pooh Sticks Bridge. The farm owners requested that this route be diverted to its current route but now they have themselves completed cordoned of this very route thereby preventing access to the site of Pooh Bridge. A East Sussex County Council spokesperson said that officials would take action to ensure that the route to the bridge was reopened.
