Piglet from Winnie the Pooh

Picture of classic Piglet

Piglet, probably Pooh's best friend, is sometimes a very brave animal for such a very small and timid pink pig. Maybe that is why he is the only animal in the forest who has ever seen a real Heffalump (or was it Pooh he saw?). Piglet likes to wear a long striped shirt (this shirt used to be green but Disney changed it to pink) and his favourite food is Haycorns.

Piglet used to live in a Beech Tree, south of Pooh's house, 100 Acre Wood Southwest. Next to this house was a piece of a broken sign which read, "Trespassers W." This was believed to be Piglet's grandfather's name, and it is short for "Trespassers Will", which is short for "Trespassers William". Piglet's grandfather had had two names in case he lost one - Trespassers after his uncle, and William after Trespassers. Since Owl moved into Piglet's house, Piglet moved in with Pooh.

The voice for Pooh's fearful little friend was provided by John Fiedler, who also played a fearsome creature in the original Star Trek series, episode 'Wolf in the Fold'.

Piglet fact:

Did you know that Winnie the Pooh remains to be something of a taboo in some countries? Pigs are considered unclean by the Islamic faith and Muslims are prohibited from consuming Pork. As a result, Piglet and the Winnie the Pooh stories are considered offensive to some members of the Islamic community.
